It is a great opportunity to welcome Island Conservation onboard as a major Project Partner, teaming up with DOC, the Morgan Foundation and WWF-NZ in this ambitious and valuable effort to eradicate mice from the Antipodes Islands.
“We are delighted to be a part of this project and work alongside such capable partners. We have adopted and adapted many eradication conservation strategies first developed in this part of the world,” said Richard Griffiths, Project Director for Island Conservation. “We are looking forward to contributing our expertise and learning more as we help advance this important project to protect this vulnerable island ecosystem and its species like the IUCN Endangered Erect-crested Penguin.”
Richard Griffiths of Island Conservation is also an invited member of DOC’s Island Eradication Advisory Group, a team of experts who’s experience is critical in reviewing planning in order to get details right and ensure nothing is missed. In addition to financial support two Island Conservation Staff will travel to Antipodes as part of the Operational Team. They are Jose-Luis Herrera-Giraldo and Jason Zito, both based in California. It is exciting to have them onboard. Welcome to the team!
