Peter Garden is an Aviation Advisor, one of the most experienced rodent eradication pilots  in the world.

“My involvement with aerial eradication programs goes back to 1997 when I was involved in work on Putauhina (Big South Cape) and has taken me to many parts of the world including Campbell Is and many southern islands around Stewart Is and Southern Fiordland. I have also been involved in international programs in the Seychelles, Fiji, Hawaii, Palmyra Atoll, Wake Atoll,  Kiribati, Henderson Island, Puerto Rico, Aleutian Islands, Gough Island and I have just completed a five year operation to rid South Georgia of rats and mice.

Each of the operations has had its unique challenges and the Antipodes is no different. Logistically it is probably one of the most difficult.

The technology around successful eradication programs is relatively new and we continue to learn from past operations.

Each successful operation is another step in turning the tide on human induced endangered species exterminations.”
